RPSC RAS Pre and Mains Syllabus 2026-27 Preparation Guide

Preparing for the RPSC RAS exam requires a smart strategy because the syllabus is vast. Here is a simple step-by-step guide to help you cover both Prelims (2026) and Mains (2027) effectively.

1. Start with the Official Syllabus

Before buying any books, download the official syllabus PDF from the RPSC website. Keep a printed copy with you. Mark the topics you already know and highlight the ones that are new to you. This will help you track your progress.

2. Build a Strong Foundation for Prelims

The Prelims exam is objective type, so you need speed and accuracy.

  • Focus on Rajasthan: Give extra time to Rajasthan History, Geography, and Art & Culture. These topics carry high weightage.
  • Practice Mental Ability: Solve at least 20 reasoning and math questions daily. This section is scoring and can help you clear the cutoff easily.
  • Current Affairs: Read a good newspaper daily and make short notes on important events related to Rajasthan and India.

3. Deep Dive for Mains Preparation

The Mains exam is descriptive, so you need to write detailed answers.

  • Answer Writing Practice: Start writing 2-3 answers every day based on previous year questions. Focus on structure: Introduction, Body, and Conclusion.
  • Interlink Topics: Try to connect different subjects. For example, if you study “Water Resources” in Geography, also read about “Irrigation Schemes” in the Economy of Rajasthan.
  • Language Papers: Don’t ignore Hindi and English. Practice essay and letter writing regularly to ensure you score the minimum qualifying marks.

4. Use Standard Books and Notes

Stick to limited but standard resources. NCERT books (Class 6-12) are best for History, Geography, and Polity. For Rajasthan-specific topics, refer to state board textbooks or reliable coaching notes.

5. Regular Revision and Mock Tests

  • Weekly Revision: Dedicate one day a week to revise what you studied in the last 7 days.
  • Mock Tests: Appear for online mock tests for Prelims to improve your time management. For Mains, try to write full-length papers within the 3-hour limit.

By following this plan consistently, you can cover the entire RPSC RAS Syllabus 2026-27 without feeling overwhelmed. Stay updated with our website for more study tips and material.
